Building Energy Transfer Systems
Teach your students about different types of energy transfer systems with this activity.
Grade Level: 8th Grade
Discipline: Physics
Standards: National Science Standard Alignment
CMS-PS3-5: Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object. (Energy and Matter)
Are you looking to teach your students about different types of energy? Check this out.
Students will build three different energy systems, draw them out, and label the types of energy changes. Each time the small toy fan will spin on the small motor. Power will come from the hand-crank generator, the D-cell battery, and the small solar panel. Discussions will ensue regarding the types of energy and any indications of potential &/on kinetic energies.
