Migration When you hear the word migration, you probably think of flocks of birds or butterflies flying South for the winter. God is amazing and has made animals to migrate as well. Animals migrate in the ocean for the same reason land animals do; to avoid cold temperatures, to find food, and to give birth. DID YOU KNOW: The humpback whale bears its young in warm, clear waters of the Caribbean where there is no food or Plankton? The mother whale lives off of its own blubber for months and goes without eating, taking their babies on a 2000 mile journey on the North Atlantic Gyre in search of cooler waters and more food off the coast of Northern New England and as far North as Iceland!
