A liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed within the major component (the solvent). 3. Is salt and water a mixture or solution? Solution 4. How can mixtures be separated? Using various filters. 5. Critical Thinking: How is this experiment related to what we see and eat in our everyday lives? Many household and earth items are mixtures and solutions. (Cereals, stews, and snacks of all sorts. Many are solutions too. Beverages, cleaning products, soups, etc. Students should investigate their houses and see how many of these they can identify and sort into the 2 categories of mixture and solution.
