Recommended Grade Level(s): Appropriate for: Grades 6–10 Time Requirements: Activity Time: 30-45 minutes Teaching Topics & Concepts: This lesson helps give students practice and review at how to identify subscript and coefficients and how to calculate the mol- ecules and/or atoms present. This is also a great introduction to balancing equations and the Law of Conservation of Matter. National Science Standards Alignment NGSS MS-1-P1-1. Develop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules and extended structures. Materials: • Copies of the worksheet • Pen or pencil • Periodic table Background Information, Activity Setup: Student should have already learned how to read a chemical formula (i.e. chemical symbols, subscripts and coefficients).
